The UKs PFAS Scandal

Its in our blood aired on ITV on 22nd March 2026 at 2215. (Watch Here)
The Directors gathered together on Teams to watch the Documentary that Mat (co founder and Director) appeared in after spending many hours with the ITV News Team with lots of questions and tears.
At the same time of the Dcoumentary Airing, Cleaner Bentham publiclly released its report into the pollution which in 10 hours got over 100 views.

As well as residents who had been given a blood test to check their PFAS levels, there were other interesting interviews given, such as the head of the Enviornment Agency, Matt Wormersley, an Attorney in America Gary Douglas and Robert Billot who first publically exposed PFAS in the 1990's when DuPont was taken to court by a farmer (represented by Billot) whose cattle was dying with tumors and other horrendous illnesses caused by the run off from the local DuPont Factory.

It's the same story here as it was there.
Only this time it was a factory using PFAS to manufacture Fire Fighting Foam, but the same lax standards and safety has caused pollution to the Towns residents and the local Enviornment possibly contaminating people beyond it's borders. You'll probably find its the same across the 10,000 PFAS hotspots across the UK. Poor health and safety in a bid to save money.

Documentary Breakdown

"Smoking Gun"
"The blood levels are significantly higher than what we would rate a s background levels in the US today".

"I'm blown away, These poor folks are walking around with very high levels that put that at great risk".

"These are comprable if not even higher than the plaintifs in our trial who lived in a community that was highly exposed".

"You should be carefully monitoring, you should be proactive, (in america) Physicians would be advised to be proactive in screening for these health effects that are now associated with exposure.
This could not have come from exposure from ordicary household products. They were living in close proximity to a facility that have used these compunds that are now in their blood, this is a smoking gun"

Gary Douglas Trial Lawyer - New York
Warminster Pensylvania - Kevin Voelker,

"Environment Agency continued incompetance?"
In the Documentary Matt Wormersley who is the manager of the chemicals strategic and regulatory planning team at the UK’s Environment Agency. Where he focuses on addressing issues related to chemical monitoring and regulation.

In the documentary Matt says;

"The big challenege in the UK and Globally is that the science is still emerging. There is still uncertainty over the health impacts for Humans and for the Environment".

"The Enviornmental Agencies Scientists have been looking at and Advising on PFAS for over two decades, That advice was used to help the International Community develop a ban of PFOS and PFOA".

Now as a non scientist/chemist If you are working with the international community on helping impliment bans on PFOA and PFOS, you would need scientific reasoning for these laws to be implemented.

The science has been "emerging" since 1978 the US Navy clearly shows that it's toxic, in 2012 Dr Fletchers work showed it was toxic. In 2026 with testing being so much more advanced that 1978 and 2012 we are more aware than ever of the health impacts, What is the Environment Agency waiting for? an epidemic?

These two statements from the Environment Agency cannot both be true? In fact it's straight out of the "polluting companies play book"

Just the same as the EA's seeming inability to function, if you helped form the bans in law the EA MUST HAVE KNOWN about the Toxic implications.
Listening to this interview, the EA doesn't work for us, they work for the companies that police themselves.

The Angus Playbook:
It's a historic issue -
well, historic from when?
2006? When UTC didn't fix the problems?
1978 When safeguards weren't put in?
2012 Just before AISG bought the firm? or from 2013? AISG failed to line the lagoons properly (with concrete 2006 Consultant report) and has never fixed the drains.

Angus Refuses to appear in the Documentary and at public meetings.

The firms refusal to appear in the Documentary and at the Public Meeting to face questions, doesn't look good.
For a firm that promised public engagement (with residents) and transparency, used the excuse in the public meeting "we didn't want to make it about us" seems to have worked against them.
In short Angus Fire (historically or otherwise) caused the issues they should  be available to answer questions the residents have, such as "what was the outcome of their consultation with Manchester University in 2017", and "what did the university consultants advise"? Angus's tranparency "promise" is so good, they are invisible. But, maybe thats the plan.
We get asked where is the evidence, well we have released ours, Where is Angus's as the report seems extremely damaging to a Company that says it "cares about the enivronment". Their game plan is more we are going to buy our way out of this by funding "Good Causes" and buy peoples opinions on the situation, rather than being truthful and open and a responsible member of the community.

I mean surely this is an ideal oppertunity to show residents how good their new treatment train is? (but i guess then we'll ask publically what about the shorter C6 Chains) and Co2 caused by incineration.

I am at a loss why anyone in the community believes that a CEO who (according to companies house) seems to be raking in £500,000 a year in salary, lives outside of Bentham, Lives in a well off part of cheshire and who is well known internally for not liking to spend money (which we see in the continued failure to rectify issues with the plant since it's purchase in 2013) and only put together the current treatment equipment when the firm was exposed with 23 breaches in 11 years and the threat of losing their Environmental permit.

The evidence is there why is it so hard to believe it?
