Is Yorkshire Water hiding the truth?
When this story broke in 2024, Yorkshire Water's CEO was adament that drinking water in Bentham was safe. source: Gods own Dark Waters and Yorkshire Water chief says PFAS pollution in Bentham 'will not impact drinking water' this may not be the case at all. Why continue the lie? why not admit then fix the problem. This service reservoir if polluted could potentially damage the health of thousands around the area.
Yorkshire Water are refusing acccess to to the information via an EIR, even to responding to it in private communication, regarding whether the local Clapham SRE is an open or closed reservoir.
Cleaner Benthams Project Director and Co-founder Mat Young says "Cleaner Bentham is only asking whether the service reservoir is open or closed. (protected from the elements or not)
The only security this serves, is the Companies (and shareholders), i feel they are protecting their CEO's obvious refusal to release the truth about whether drinking water in and around Bentham is truly impacted by the Angus Fire (or any other) PFAS Pollution".
He then said, "The map we have clearly shows there is a reservoir in Clapham and it can only be the one mentioned in our blog "are we safe?", Not only this but Yorkshire Water owns 5 boreholes 100 yards or so from the reservoir (Borehole record) in Clapham. The only reasons that they would be hiding this is if it is polutted and they knew about it {the pollution}, and haven't reported it to the EA or the DWI. It also raises the question the vadility of Angus Fires test results on the sites tap water. Which is just another set of results Angus will not be transparent about.
Cleaner Bentham seems to be uncovering lie after lie and cover up after cover up" he concluded.
In fairness the EIR does ask for locations, but that doesn't mean that our health question should remain unanswered, the map (obviously) from Yorkshire Water or the previous Authority, and the locations of their Boreholes are publicly available.
